Jasper County is a part of the Hilton Head-Bluffton-Beaufort metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in the state of South Carolina. The county is expected to experience continued population growth over the next several years due to its designation as a retirement destination, as well as spillover from growth in the Hilton Head Island/Bluffton area of neighboring Beaufort County.
REMI will be providing a special guest webinar on Wednesday, November 11th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. (ET) that will feature Robert Carey, Ph.D., Director of the Regional Economic Analysis Laboratory at Clemson University.
This presentation, “Fiscal Projections for Jasper County, SC with Adjustments for an Unexpected Pandemic,” will review Dr. Carey’s assessment of Jasper County that used REMI projections to estimate the impact that this future growth will have on the finances for the county school district, in addition to the county and municipal governments.
Specific metrics from the adjusted REMI model regional control forecast were incorporated to project the growth of both expenditure and revenue sources through 2025. Dr. Carey’s analysis was carried out prior to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, the projections were revised to take the effects of the current outbreak into account.
This guest webinar will discuss the methods used to make revenue and expenditure projections before providing comparisons of the pre- and post-COVID results.
