Populist ideas have captured the hearts and minds of voters. While solutions offered by these movements can be simplistic, the proposals also may reflect valid issues worthy of consideration.
Economic analysis can serve as a way of examining proposals and shaping them into practical policies. Nonpartisan evaluation of economic impacts can contribute to the dialogue at a time when populism is galvanizing both the right and left.
Please join REMI Managing Economic Associate Chris Judson and Economic Associate Elliot Jerry at the upcoming policy seminar in Concord, New Hampshire on Thursday, March 14th from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. when they will present “Populism, Policy Analysis and the Economy.”
The history and recent examples of populism will be discussed, along with the economic, demographic, and fiscal implications of populist proposals. This presentation also examines populist ideas as they apply to economic development, transportation, energy, health care, the environment, minimum income, and more.
