REMI cordially invites you to the Florida Policy Conference 2019 in Orlando, Florida on Thursday, March 28th from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. that will be hosted by CEO and Chief Economist Frederick Treyz, Ph.D. and Managing Economic Associate Chris Judson. The theme of the conference is “Populism, Policy Analysis and the Economy.”
Our staff and guest speakers will examine infrastructure investments, resiliency planning, and economic development, along with competing tax policies. We will discuss the policy debates and consider the role of dynamic economic analysis in evaluating different policy strategies.
We will also offer an opportunity at the end of the event for one-on-one consultation with REMI staff members.

Luis is in charge of coordinating economic development projects and activities for the Council’s eight-county East Central Florida region including the implementation of the region’s Community Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). His areas of professional expertise include economic impact and industry cluster analyses, planning research methods, and food systems planning. Luis is a graduate of the inaugural class of the Connect Florida Statewide Leadership Institute, Leadership Florida’s program for young professionals. He was also selected to be part of Next City’s 2012 Vanguard Class, a national program for young urban leaders.

He spent over 28 years where he worked in the planning, land use, environmental, zoning and transportation fields. Sean also worked in the Region One Office of the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he managed capital projects, environmental compliance and operational finances for transit agencies throughout New England. Sullivan earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and an MPA from Suffolk University in Boston. He is the two time recipient of the Administrator’s Award from the Federal Transit Administration. He was also honored by receiving the Fellowship Award from Suffolk University and the President’s Medal from UMass Lowell. He is a 30-year member of the American Planning Association.

Under Dr. Treyz’s leadership, REMI has remained at the forefront of regional modeling, and informs public policy debates through the use of REMI models to evaluate economic development, transportation, energy, taxation, and other topics. The company’s clients include federal, state, and regional agencies, metropolitan planning organizations, leading national associations, universities, and consultants.
Dr. Treyz oversees the research and development of the REMI model. He publishes in leading journals; this year he authored the paper “Immigration and United States Economic Growth,” in Business Economics, the journal of the National Association for Business Economics. He holds an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Regional Science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Since arriving at REMI, Mr. Judson has consulted for a number of clients on topics including medical research, labor force economics, and natural disasters. He provides client support in selecting inputs, conducting simulations, and analyzing results, and he creates and hosts public online seminars and training presentations on a variety of modeling topics.
Mr. Judson co-authored an academic journal article titled, “Decision framework for evaluating the macroeconomic risks and policy impacts of cyber attacks”. He holds a B.A. in economics from Western New England University, with a concentration in business.
