REMI cordially invites you to join us for our upcoming REMI conference, “The New England Political-Economic Outlook 2020,” that our CEO & Chief Economist Frederick Treyz, Ph.D. and Managing Economic Associate Chris Judson will be hosting at the University of Massachusetts Club in Boston, Massachusetts on Thursday, March 12th from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
In addition to our presentations evaluating the transportation, energy, and financial sectors, REMI is honored to be joined by numerous experts as they discuss the region’s most important policy decisions.
Presentations from The New England Political-Economic Outlook 2020:
Nicolas Rockler, Ph.D. is an Economic Consultant specializing in regional economic impact measurement, modeling, and assessment. He has more than 35 years experience as a Regional Economist. Recent project work has included economic analyses of proposed high voltage electrical transmission lines in Vermont and New Hampshire, impacts of proposed new minimum wages in Vermont, and economic characteristics of the craft-brewing industry in Vermont.
Dr. Rockler has served on the staff of the Multiregional Planning Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). While there, he conducted research for the Economic Development Administration on the long-run impact of public infrastructure investment for the Joyce Foundation and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Dr. Rockler completed his Ph.D. at MIT with his dissertation titled, “Regional Economic Performance and Public Infrastructure Investment.” He received BA and MA degrees in Regional Science at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Saha, a nationally renowned expert on the REMI Policy Insight model, has used this model to analyze the economic and distributional impacts of policies for federal, state, and local clients in the public sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), foundations, and other private-sector clients. He has examined the socioeconomic impacts of infrastructure investments, particularly in the transportation and energy sectors. Dr. Saha has also worked extensively on international economic development issues, particularly in South Asia. He has been studying issues related to affordable clean energy-based economic development and the associated local economic benefits of such policies.

The company’s clients include federal, state, and regional agencies, metropolitan planning organizations, leading national associations, universities, and consultants.
Dr. Treyz oversees the research and development of the REMI model. He publishes in leading journals; this year he authored the paper “Immigration and United States Economic Growth,” in Business Economics, the journal of the National Association for Business Economics. He holds an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Regional Science from the University of Pennsylvania.

He provides client support in selecting inputs, conducting simulations, and analyzing results, and he creates and hosts public online seminars and training presentations on a variety of modeling topics.
Mr. Judson co-authored an academic journal article titled, “Decision framework for evaluating the macroeconomic risks and policy impacts of cyber attacks”. He holds a B.A. in economics from Western New England University, with a concentration in business.
