States are responsible for some of the most critical policy decisions. This is especially true when federal policy is at a standstill, and state policy makers are looking for new approaches for developing their economies.
REMI cordially invites you to a special luncheon event in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, September 7th, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. titled “States Take Charge: Developing Economic Policy at Home.”
Our staff and guest speakers will be addressing a range of policy questions, including how to forecast the effects of a changing political climate, the potential implications of permitting sports betting, and the effects of existing casino gambling in Massachusetts.
In addition to these presentations, this event will include opportunities for networking and sharing ideas with others who are passionate about public policy.

Prior to joining the Donahue Institute, Mr. Motamedi was a senior economic associate at Regional Economic Models, Inc. He is an expert in the application of economic models to high-visibility issues around the U.S. and internationally. His current projects include an assessment of the impacts of container deposits laws, the economic and social impacts of the introduction of casinos in Massachusetts, and workforce supply and demand alignment in Metro Boston. Mr. Motamedi received his bachelors of arts in economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Dr. Evangelakis is based at REMI’s Washington D.C. office.
Prior to starting at REMI, Dr. Evangelakis taught undergraduate Intermediate Microeconomics as a lecturer at the University of Chicago. He is an experienced economic researcher and analyst; highlights of his work include measuring the effects of climate change on mortality and electricity usage and estimating air quality effects of the NOx Budget Program. Dr. Evangelakis has written papers analyzing the effects of Florida property tax reform and the non-pecuniary benefits of building a professional sports stadium. He also served as an intern at The Washington Economics Group, Inc., and The Human Services Coalition of Miami-Dade County.
Dr. Evangelakis holds Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Economics from University of Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Mathematics from Swarthmore College.

He provides client support in selecting inputs, conducting simulations, and analyzing results, and he creates and hosts public online seminars and training presentations on a variety of modeling topics.
Mr. Judson co-authored an academic journal article titled, “Decision framework for evaluating the macroeconomic risks and policy impacts of cyber attacks”. He holds a B.A. in economics from Western New England University, with a concentration in business.

Mr. Luther joined the REMI team as a recent graduate of The Ohio State University. While studying at Ohio State, Mr. Luther was heavily involved in Columbus’ Smart Cities program. He was also a founder of Smart Campus, a student group dedicated to applying novel technology to campus problems. As a result, he is interested in using REMI’s many products, such as TranSight, to model to analyze the complex effects of smarter cities and other economic issues related to the regional economy.
While at Ohio State, Mr. Luther also conducted research, investigating neuroeconomic explanations for recent findings in behavioral economics. Mr. Luther graduated from OSU with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a concentration in Statistics.

Prior to starting at REMI, Mr. Kozlowski served as a researcher at Eastern Illinois University School of Business, conducting data analysis using R and Excel under guidance of a professor. He helped to correct and improve data analysis for a behavioral economic study.
He earlier served as a student researcher at the University of Illinois Department of Economics, where he independently conducted research and literature review regarding cashless economic policy. He also collaborated with a team at the University’s Department of History engaged in nonpartisan socioeconomic research and literature review under guidance of a professor.
Mr. Kozlowski holds Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, with minor in Chemistry, from University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.
